CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN, COST ESTIMATES, DRAWINGS, AND CONSTRUCTION OF CLUSTER IRRIGATION SCHEMES AT NANGWESHI IN SIOMA DISTRICT

Prairie Engineering Ltd successfully completed consultancy services for WWF Zambia for Nature under Project No. PEL 25051 involving the design, cost estimates, drawings, and construction of irrigation clusters in Sioma District, Western Province, Zambia. The project was implemented for WWF Zambia Country Office and included the development of a 2-hectare solar-powered irrigation scheme comprising 16 irrigation clusters arranged along four sub-main lines.

The scope of works successfully delivered by Prairie Engineering Ltd included installation of 14 x 550W monocrystalline solar panels, a 10HP AC/DC solar pump, and smart controller systems. The project further involved fabrication and erection of a 7.5-meter-high tank stand with installation of three 10,000-litre water tanks, laying of 400 meters of water distribution pipelines supplying all 16 clusters through 30 taps, and installation of a 250m x 50m game fence with concrete poles, fence posts, and access gates. The assignment also included conducting farmer training on irrigation management, solar system operation, and maintenance.

All works were completed successfully to the satisfaction of the client in accordance with the agreed technical and environmental standards. The irrigation scheme was commissioned, became fully operational, and was officially handed over to the Nangweshi community for immediate use.
