Prairie Engineering Limited Conducts Environmental Project Brief for Proposed Agro-Processing Facility in Kawambwa District
Prairie Engineering Limited successfully conducted an Environmental Project Brief (EPB) for the proposed construction of a Sunflower Cooking Oil and Rice Processing Facility by Agripreneur Foundation Limited on Plot Number LN-8687/8 located in the Light Industrial Area of Kawambwa District.
The proposed project is aimed at promoting value addition in the agricultural sector through the processing of sunflower and rice products, thereby contributing to local economic growth, food security, and employment creation within the region. The development is also expected to enhance market opportunities for local farmers by creating a reliable outlet for agricultural produce.
As part of the Environmental Project Brief process, Prairie Engineering Limited undertook environmental and social assessments to identify potential impacts associated with the proposed development and recommend appropriate mitigation measures. The assessment considered key aspects such as waste management, air emissions, noise levels, water usage, occupational health and safety, and community well-being.
The EPB was prepared in line with the requirements of Zambia Environmental Management Agency to support environmental compliance and sustainable project implementation. The process also involved stakeholder engagement and site evaluations to ensure that environmental concerns were adequately addressed during the planning phase of the project.
The establishment of the processing facility is expected to play a significant role in supporting agro-industrial development in Kawambwa District while promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.
